Yes, visiting beyond Kathmandu and Pokhara is often what makes a Nepal trip truly memorable. While these two cities are excellent starting points, they represent only a small part of Nepal’s geographic and cultural diversity.
Regions such as the Terai, mid-hills, and remote mountain districts offer very different experiences—wildlife safaris, traditional village life, quiet hill towns, and landscapes far removed from busy tourist centers. Places like Chitwan, Bandipur, Ilam, Tansen, and Rara Lake appeal to travellers seeking variety and depth.
Traveling beyond the main tourist hubs does require more time and flexibility. Transport can be slower, facilities more basic, and English less widely spoken. However, these challenges are often balanced by richer cultural interactions and fewer crowds.
For travellers with more than a week in Nepal, exploring at least one destination beyond Kathmandu and Pokhara is highly recommended.
