Google Maps is useful but not always accurate in Nepal. In cities, it works reasonably well for navigation, walking routes, and locating restaurants or hotels. However, road conditions, construction, and informal routes can cause inaccuracies.
In rural areas and trekking regions, Google Maps may show paths that are outdated, incomplete, or not suitable for vehicles. Locals, hotel staff, and guides are often more reliable sources of directions.
Using Google Maps as a general reference—combined with local advice—works best.
